Everyone's excited on day one of a new routine. The real question is what happens on day 42, when the newness has worn off and nobody's excited about it anymore.
Here's the shift that actually keeps a routine alive past week six: it was never supposed to run on motivation. Motivation gets you through week one. What survives week six is a routine that can be recalibrated in small pieces instead of restarted from scratch every time it slips.
Think of it like a sailboat. Full sail is week one — wind's right, everyone's on board. Storm mode isn't failure — it's battening down the hatches and running the minimum that keeps the boat steady until the weather passes. And sometimes you have to drop anchor completely for a while. That's not quitting either. That's still part of the plan.
Right now, is your family's routine at full sail, in storm mode, or anchored? And what's the ONE piece you'd hold onto if this became a storm-mode week — the minimum that still counts?
If you haven't already, go check the comments on Post 1 or Post 2 and respond to someone else's answer too. Half of what makes this useful is realizing you're not the only one figuring this out in real time. 👀
This post is part of the discussion that goes with our Routines Starter mini-course — a short, self-paced course built around these three videos, with the full Storm-Ready System and the Head Coach sharing-the-load walkthrough behind it. If it's not the right fit for you right now, that's completely fine — the video itself is free to watch, and you're welcome to join the discussion either way. I've dropped the link in the first comment below.

Mine, honestly, is storm mode more often than I'd like to admit — and I'm learning that's not a sign I'm failing. Some weeks the "minimum that counts" is just clothes laid out the night before, nothing else. What's your one piece? 👇
